Hunter Douglas is making energy savings for customers a priority, as the company has announced that 324 of its shade products with PowerView Automation have received AERC’s certification for enhanced energy performance. Shades receiving the certification come from a variety of styles, including Applause Honeycomb Shades, Duette Honeycomb Shades, Vignette Roman Shades, Sonnette Cellular Shades, Designer Roller Shades, and Designer Screen Shades.

Products certified with PowerView Automation feature the AERC Energy Improvement label. To illustrate the energy performance of automated products, the label now indicates the improved energy rating with automation as well as the standard energy rating number. This shows what the product’s energy rating is if used with automation, providing consumers with the data on a product’s performance best suited for their environment.

Two prominent numbers on a certified product’s label easily determine its energy performance: the Cool Climate and Warm Climate ratings. The “Cool Climate” rating indicates the energy savings potential when using a particular product in a cooler climate, where homeowners may be required to turn up the heat in order to keep their home more comfortable. The “Warm Climate” rating indicates the potential energy savings when using in warmer climates, where homeowners may be required to turn up the air conditioning to make their homes more comfortable. The closer these ratings are to the “Max” rating listed in the corresponding section of the label, the more energy the product can save.
