HVCC staff union responds to decision to put president on leave

The union representing staff members at Hudson Valley Community College said the school should have responded more quickly to accusations against the president.

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The union representing staff members at Hudson Valley Community College said the school should have responded more quickly to accusations against the president. The Hudson Valley Faculty Association said they are concerned that Pres. Roger Ramsammy was not placed on leave at the same time as the employee who filed a complaint against him.

The union said the school's president should be held to the same standard as all other employees. The Board of Trustees placed Ramsammy on paid administrative leave Wednesday afternoon. The president's lawyer said he requested to be placed on leave while the investigation continues.

Officials have not shared the nature of the complaint. Louis Coplin, the vice president of student affairs, is serving as interim president.
