Iran arrests over 200 on ‘Satan Worship’ charges

Iranian law enforcement authorities have announced the detention of 261 individuals, including three Europeans, on charges of “Satan worship” and promoting it in the country.

According to the state-run IRNA news agency on Friday, the arrests were made in the “Shahrbar” areas of western Tehran through technical and specialized operations by the Intelligence Organization. These individuals, including women, are accused of spreading “the culture of Satan worship, immorality, and nudity.”

Iranian police stated that members of this network included several organized members, including European and Iranian nationals.

The police statement mentioned that “146 men and 115 women were detained with undesirable and obscene status, with symbols, signs, and specific symbols of devil worship on their clothing, head, face, and hair.”

So far, no information has been provided regarding the identity of the detained foreign citizens.

Additionally, authorities in the country have reported the discovery and confiscation of alcoholic beverages, drugs, 73 motorcycles, and devil worship symbols from these individuals.

This comes as in recent years, hundreds of individuals have been arrested and punished for their involvement in “Satan worship” and promotion.

Previously, following police raids on “mixed-gender” gatherings, dozens of individuals, including artists, were detained on charges of “Satan worship” and “immorality.”
