Kilfoyl Leads Way as Cowgirls Win Regional

Lexi Kilfoyl struck out eight and held Michigan to just one first inning run as Oklahoma State's softball team beat the Wolverines 4-1 to win the NCAA regional at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater on Sunday.

OSU got a pair of home runs to provide the winning margin.

In the second inning, Lexi McDonald hit a solo home run to left field to break a 1-1 tie.

The Cowgirls got some insurance in the fifth inning as Karli Godwin hit a two-run home run to left field put OSU up 4-1.

Each team scored a run in the first inning.

Tallen Edwards singled in Jilyen Poullard to put OSU up 1-0 in the top of the inning.

Michigan answered with an RBI single to tie it at 1-1.

Kilfoyl shut out the Wolverines after that, giving OSU their fifth straight trip to the super regional.

OSU has won 14 straight NCAA Tournament home games and are 15-0 in regional home games under coach Kenny Gajewski.

The Cowgirls will host the best-of-three super regional later in the week, with the schedule to be released on Monday.
