Three-car crash involving injuries shuts down I-84 East in Hartford

A three-car crash led to the closure of one side of Interstate 84 in Hartford Monday morning.

The crash was reported shortly before 7 a.m. in the area of Exit 48 on the eastbound side of the highway, according to Connecticut State Police and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

State police said injuries were reported, though it was not immediately clear how serious they were.

According to the DOT, the accident left I-84 East shut down between Exits 48 and 49.

State police encouraged motorists to avoid the area.
