Reddit user Razorpsycho shared their most vital tip for skincare.

They explained in a post why more people should implement it into their routine.

A sleep tip could make a difference in how frequently you get flare-ups or other skin issues.

They recommended that you change your pillow cover and bed sheets often.

“I don’t know how else to put this mildly, it’s probably one of the most underrated tip for all,” they said.

If you follow a morning and nighttime beauty routine religiously but still get pimples, there may be a reason.

Your pillow covers and bedsheets are on your body every night and absorb oils that may seep onto them from your skin.

The Redditor also said to check your pillow cover and sheets often because “it’s a breeding ground for all kinds of bacteria.”

They admitted that they also stopped excessively touching their face, which played a role in clearing up their skin.

Razorpsycho shared that they change their bedsheets about every two weeks.

“Just like people always say to change your pillows regularly, change your sheets weekly,” another Redditor agreed.

“Your blankets or whatever you used to cover yourself while you sleep should be washed regularly as well.”

According to sleep experts at mattress company Leesa, you should change your pillowcase at least once a week, but every few days is ideal.

“However, in a realistic world, once per week is good enough for most and helps prevent the yucky buildup of skin, dirt, and oils,” they said.

Redditor Careful-Locksmith-89 called it one of the three things that made a “huge impact” on their acne-prone skin.

They also revealed that they air dry after washing their face, instead of using a towel, and apply moisturizer when their skin is already damp.

Many Redditors also implemented the action, and even offered additional advice.

“My tip is: If you can’t change your pillow covers every day, put a new clean cotton T-shirt over them while sleeping,” one suggested.

“If nothing is available, I sleep on my upper arm but never touch my cheek on unfamiliar surfaces.”

Another recommended switching to satin pillows because it aids both anti-aging and haircare by reducing frizz and breakage.

“You’ll have less wrinkles and your skincare won’t absorb much as compared to cotton pillows,” they explained.

Anti-aging tips and 'superstar' products

Dr. Anatalia Moore is a GP and skin specialist with over 11 years of clinical experience.

She told The U.S. Sun that her goal is to equip patients with the knowledge they need to take control of their skin journey.

She said the fundamental basics of a beauty routine are the same for all ages — it should include an effective cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF.

“Moisturizers are my superstar, even over products containing active ingredients,” she said.

“Finding a well-balanced moisturizer that provides the right kind of hydration, replaces natural oils, and seals them in, literally stabilizes your skin.

“This in itself quickly can soften the appearance of fine lines and texture, as often these are worsened by dehydration.

“It also allows the skin to function as it should.

“It then can heal faster, which, among many things, can lead to fewer lines and wrinkles, less flares of dermatitis and rosacea, and shorter-lived, milder breakouts.”
