'Grifters got grifted': Eric Trump post on Michael Cohen money theft blows up in his face

An admission by former Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen that he absconded with $30,000 belonging to the Trump Organization led Trump Org executive Eric Trump to run to X and post about it.

That, in turn, led some commenters to remind him of his own sordid history of financial malfeasance and the Trump Org's history of stiffing vendors.

Under cross-examination in the Trump hush money trial playing out in a Manhattan courtroom on Monday, former Trump "fixer" Cohen admitted that he "overbilled' the Trump Org.

He also said that the Manhattan District Attorney's Office is aware of these transgressions and that he never faced larceny charges.

That led Eric Trump, seated in court with his wife Lara Trump, to write on X: "This just got interesting: Michael Cohen is now admitting to stealing money from our company."

Commenters on his feed were quick to remind him that he was accused of "self-dealing" by redirecting some money raised through its annual charity golf tournament back into the Trump's own businesses instead of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, as reported by Forbes.

According to the report, Trump slammed Eric Trump's foundation for not charging money to charitable organizations for holding events on his properties.

A $100,000 payment to help offset the costs of paying to use the golf course for its annual charity event "passed through the Eric Trump Foundation--and wound up in the coffers of Donald Trump's private businesses," Forbes reported.

With that in mind, on Monday critics of the Trump family pushed back at Eric Trump's "interesting" comments with one writing, "You stole money from a kids' cancer charity. You might want to sit this one out."

A parody account of longtime Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, added, "How dare he cut in on your action."

"Grifters get grifted," Reek O' Shame dryly commented.

Jules Morgan reminded Trump's middle son that "your criminal defendant daddy, found guilty of SA, cheated on your stepmother with a Playboy Playmate and Porn Star, paid them hush money and falsified business records to conceal it."

She later added, "Your criminal defendant daddy defrauded innocent people out of millions of dollars with his scam university and had to pay a $25M settlement. He also defrauded his own charity and spent donated money on a Tim Tebow helmet and painting of himself. Not to mention stealing charitable donations meant for children with cancer, you know all about that, don’t you Eric?!"

"Eric complains again. He’s pissed there’s no honor among thieves," Billy Buddusky observed.

Kid Charlemagne asked, "The Trump Organization’s business model was stealing from customers, contractors, vendors, charities, and governments. Why would you expect your accomplices to be honest.?"

Kurt W, was unsympathetic about the $30K lost by the Trump Org, writing, "Bummer," followed by a laughter emoji.
