Report: Tottenham identify top striker target and want to move early this summer
According to Graeme Bailey and HITC, Tottenham Hotspur want to move early for their top targets this summer and have identified Santiago Gimenez as their desired striker.
Despite Daniel Levy’s love of a late deal in the summer window, Tottenham moved fast last year when they signed the likes of James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario and Manor Solomon.
Ange Postecoglou will be hoping for more of the same this summer as he looks to rebuild the Tottenham squad in his image, and HITC sources say that is exactly what Spurs intend to do.
Tottenham reportedly want to sign a new striker and a new midfielder as their two main targets this summer, with Santiago Gimenez highlighted as the ideal reinforcement for the Lilywhite front line.
Tottenham want to sign Santiago Gimenez
Spurs are yet to replace Harry Kane since the striker swapped North London for the Bundesliga just one day before the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season. Richarlison and Heung-min Son shared the number nine position this year but Spurs now want to bring in a new out-and-out centre-forward.
GiveMeSport reported recently that Postecoglou has given the green light to a move for Gimenez and Spurs are now working to find out how much he would cost.
Spurs are said to be ‘upping the ante’ and ‘pressing ahead’ with their interest in the Feyenoord striker, with his old manager Arne Slot joining Liverpool this summer.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Tottenham do need a new number nine, that’s for sure. I just wonder whether we will go for a more tried-and-tested Premier League striker like Ivan Toney, seeing as you know exactly what you are going to get with him. Signing strikers from leagues outside the big five is always a risk.
