VIDEO: Body camera captures arrest of car theft, kidnapping suspect

Body camera footage from Oklahoma City Police shows the moment officers arrested a man after he allegedly stole and crashed a car with two babies inside.

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Body camera footage from Oklahoma City Police shows the moment officers arrested a man after he allegedly stole and crashed a car with two babies inside.

On May 11, 2024, officers responded to a rollover crash near NW 23rd St. and N. Meridian Ave.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the car was stolen and there were two babies inside at the time of the crash. Witnesses were able to get the babies out as they were secured in their car seats. They received minor injuries.

The suspect ran off shortly after the crash. He was quickly located and arrested.

The suspect has been identified as Chance Sanders, who had a previous conviction for robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to police.

OKCPD says Sanders was arrested on Kidnapping, Larceny of Auto and Leaving Scene of Accident.
