Albany man charged with Clinton Avenue robbery

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany Police Department announced the arrest of Daniel-Dyel Thomas, 22, of Albany, following a robbery investigation. The incident took place on May 19 near the Salvation Army on Clinton Avenue.

On Sunday at 8:10 p.m., police responded to the report of a robbery at 452 Clinton Avenue. Arriving officers spoke to the 60-year-old victim who claimed that Thomas had reportedly knocked the man unconscious by punching him repeatedly in the face and head.

Thomas then allegedly stole the unconscious man's wallet and fled the area. Following up on a suspect description put out over police radio, officers located Thomas near Washington Avenue and North Hawk Street and arrested him.

The victim was treated for his injuries at Albany Medical Center. According to police, Thomas and the victim know each other. Thomas was charged with second-degree robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
