NYC, LI hospitals rank among country’s best for pediatric care
NEW YORK (PIX11) – Long Island and New York City are home to two of the five best pediatric hospitals in the country, according to a new ranking from Money magazine.
The ranking put SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital in the No. 2 spot, falling only behind Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Trailing behind in the No. 4 spot was NYU Langone Medical Center.
The ranking considered a number of factors related to safety, patient experience and doctor expertise, as well as the financial transparency of a hospital. Some metrics include: mortality, readmission and timeliness.
The ranking also considered ratings and accreditations from bodies like the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and American College of Surgeons.
Here are the best hospitals for pediatric care in New York:
- SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital; Stony Brook
- NYU Langone Medical Center; New York City
- St. Francis Hospital - The Heart Center; Roslyn

NYU Langone Medical Center also took a top spot on the magazine’s overall hospital rankings, released in January, as did North Shore University Hospital.
