Ina Garten Just Shared the Recipe for Her Double Fudge Chocolate Sheet Cake & It Might Be Her Most Decadent Dessert Yet
No one can whip up delicious chocolate recipes like Ina Garten. She is famous for her Beatty’s chocolate cake, but anyone who follows the Barefoot Contessa knows that she loves trying new things — and sharing her new recipes with her Food Network fans. Her latest chocolate cake recipe has us drooling over our keyboards as it looks so rich and decadent.
Garten shared her Double Fudge Cake with Chocolate Buttercream recipe on YouTube, and you’ll want to serve this at every family party!
“In my experience, the only thing kids like more than chocolate cake is a huge chocolate cake,” Garten says in the video. (And, um, same for me!) She uses flour and a “really rich” cocoa powder among other dry ingredients, which she sifts together over a medium mixing bowl. Then she mixes room-temperature butter — important for a “light and fluffy cake” — and more in an electric blender.
Garten adds several more ingredients to her cake batter, including vanilla, buttermilk, and sour cream (to keep the cake “moist”). She also uses freshly brewed coffee in the recipe! She combines the dry and wet ingredients in the electric mixture, commenting that her “whole kitchen smells like chocolate already.” That alone is worth making the recipe!
Pour the batter into a half-sheet pan, spreading evenly with a spatula before baking it. While it’s in the oven, she prepares an “easy” frosting with semi-sweet chocolate chips, butter, and other ingredients. She spreads it on the cooled cake, and it looks so creamy and good. Chocolate lovers, this one is for us!
Since this cake is for a kids’ party, Garten suggests getting different kinds of candy and letting little ones decorate the top. You could also cover in sprinkles, or simply serve as is.
