Dr. Raffaella Gabassi is a Harley Street aesthetics practitioner and skincare expert, experienced in treatments such as non-surgical facelifts and chemical peels.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared anti-aging tips to try at home.

SKIN SAVIORS

Gabassi said skin types vary from dry to oily, but all can benefit from a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF.

The early signs of aging start in your 20s but can be prevented using a retinol product.

“In your 30s, adding an antioxidant serum and eye cream can help combat fine lines,” she said.

“In your 40s and beyond, incorporating a hydrating serum, collagen-boosting product, and regular exfoliation can help maintain skin health and combat aging.”

Gabassi said several other skincare ingredients can be beneficial for an ageless appearance.

However, there are specific times of day that they should be used for optimal results.

“The best products for treating fine lines and wrinkles include retinoids, peptides, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants,” she said.

“Retinoids can be applied at night to clean skin and peptides can be used in both morning and evening routines.

“Hyaluronic acid can be applied after cleansing and before moisturizing, and antioxidants can be applied in the morning before sunscreen.”

FLAWLESS FREEBIES

Gabassi said skin is the body’s largest organ therefore it’s also important to consider lifestyle factors for maintaining health.

“Factors like sun exposure, pollution, diet, and genetics can impact skin health,” she said.

“Anyone can start to make lifestyle changes such as maintaining a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, staying hydrated, getting regular exercise.

It’s best to stick to proven, gentle skincare products and practices.

“Practicing stress-reducing activities, getting enough sleep, avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, and protecting their skin from sun damage.

“These changes can reverse some signs of aging.”

TRIED AND TESTED

Gabassi said viral anti-aging hacks such as lemon juice, baking soda, or toothpaste should be avoided.

She warned they can be harsh and irritating on the skin, leading to inflammation and damage.

“Using excessive amounts of products or over-exfoliating can disrupt the skin’s natural barrier, causing sensitivity and accelerated aging,” she said.

“It’s best to stick to proven, gentle skincare products and practices.”
