Barbados Royals Girls Cricket Club teams up with Smile Group Travel
In an exciting development for local women’s sports, the Barbados Royals Girls Cricket Club has secured a significant partnership and sponsorship agreement with Smile Group Travel, a renowned sports travel company based in the United Kingdom.
Through this collaboration Smile Group Travel will become the official travel partner of the cricket club. Under the agreement, Smile Group Travel will manage all travel arrangements for the club’s members, facilitating their participation in various tournaments and events.
Beyond logistical support, the company will also provide financial sponsorship, bolstering the club’s efforts to foster and expand girls’ cricket in Barbados.
Roland Butcher, president of the cricket club, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership.
“We are delighted to partner with Smile Group Travel,” Butcher stated. “Their expertise in sports travel and commitment to supporting women’s sports align perfectly with our mission to empower young girls through cricket. With Smile Group Travel’s support, we are confident that our players will have the best possible experience both on and off the field.”
The former England international added that the sponsorship from this deal would also alleviate financial pressures on the club and enable it to invest more in training and development programmes for its members as well as enhance the players’ experience by offering well organised travel plans which would allow parents and the children to focus on cricket.
The British travel company’s director Graeme Walker was equally pleased with this collaboration.
“We are proud to partner with the Barbados Royals Girls Cricket Club and contribute to the growth of women’s cricket in Barbados,” Walker said. “Our team is committed to ensuring seamless travel experiences for the club’s members, allowing them to focus on their performance and enjoyment of the game.”
This partnership comes less than a month after the club signed a memorandum of understanding with Fairbreak Global, a renowned international advocate for women’s cricket, on April 16.
