I’m a beauty writer, this is what I’m buying in Lookfantastic’s bank holiday sale

SUMMER’S a great time to stock up on beauty essentials.Whilst it’s tempting to save up your wishlist until Christmas, hotter weather and sunny holidays call for summer scents and new bottles of SPF.

However, if you’ve already shelled out on flights or saving up the pennies for a summer getaway, splurging on beauty buys probably isn’t top of your agenda – but I’ve got a brilliant excuse for you, Lookfantastic’s bank holiday sale.

It’s a good time to stock up!

Beauty retailer LookFantastic – best known for its easy-to-use interface and speedy delivery times – has just dropped a huge sale with up to 40% off over the bank holiday weekend.

The retailer has slashed the prices on hundreds of summer beauty buys – and they’re not scraping the barrel, as there are some great buys in the mix.

There’s only one issue – and the clue is in the name – the Lookfantastic bank holiday sale will only last over the bank holiday weekend.

So if there’s something you’re eyeing up, I’d advise you to get a move on.

Also, don’t forget that you can bag extra savings by shopping through the app, at the time of writing Lookfantastic was also offering a free Redken One United Multi-Benefit Treatment 30ml when you spend £60 amongst other deals – however, these may change throughout the weekend.

We’d recommend checking your LF Beauty Plus + rewards account, now is a great time to spend those points.

From sunscreens to vitamin C serums, the products I already love or the ones I’m eyeing up, here’s everything I’ll be putting in my basket.

Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 59 Perfume Mist

Perfect for beach bags
Sol de Janeiro

Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 59 Perfume Mist, £24 £19.20

During the winter months, I crave cosy, enveloping fragrances with notes of mixed spiced, heavy musks and vanilla.

But when summer comes around, these perfumes collect dust as I reach for fruity, fresh, zesty fragrances.

If you’re of a similar disposition, pop Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 59 Perfume Mist (now £19.20) into your online basket.

Whilst it’s not an EDP or EDT (meaning it doesn’t contain essential perfume oils, making it much lighter and fresher), this water-based spray is perfect for a quick refresh.

Spritz it onto clothes or skin for a sugary hit of violet, vanilla and sandalwood, or pop it into your car to use as a (rather posh) air freshener.

Whilst the lightweight body mist won’t stay put for long, the spill-proof bottle is perfect for chucking into a beach bag for a quick refresh on the go.

Garnier Vitamin C Day and Night Serum Set for Face

Vitamin C helps boost glow
Garnier

Garnier Vitamin C Day and Night Serum Set for Face, £26.98 £16.19

You really don’t need to shell out on pricey skincare to achieve great results.

Vitamin C is a brightening ingredient, which promotes a clear, glowing complexion.

The ingredient also tackles dark spots (usually the result of sun exposure) and can be used daily, depending on your skin type.

I’ve been a fan of Garnier’s fuss-free Vitamin C Day Serum for a while, which contains skin-pefecting niacinamide and salicylic acid alongside the key ingredient, Vitamin C.

When the brand launched its nighttime version of Vitamin C, I was sceptical, but I’ve been fairly impressed.

This formula contains 10% pure vitamin C, meaning it’s a more potent, yet stripped-back version of the day serum.

If you’re keen to try both, here’s your chance as LookFantastic has slashed the price of the bundle to just £16.19.

Clinique Almost Lipstick Black Honey

This glossy lipstick suits everyone

Clinique Almost Lipstick Black Honey, £24 £19.20

Not quite a lip balm and not quite a lipstick, Clinique Almost Lipstick Black Honey (now £19.20) sent social media into a frenzy with its flattering, barely-there finish.

Think of this lipstick as a grown-up version of the pH products scattered across social media, as the formula works with your skin tone to develop into a flattering shade.

It delivers a hydrating, glossy, balmy hit of colour to your lips – with no need for a lip liner or a steady hand.

You can wear it alone or layer it up with other lip products, and the slim, lightweight bullet is perfect for chucking into your handbag.

Last year, Clinique launched a Black Honey successor named Pink Honey, which is a rosy pink take on the OG.

Whilst my heart still belongs to Black Honey, Pin Honey has a gorgeous, pretty pink finish that would work alongside most make-up looks.

Fancy trying them both? Good news – they’re currently on sale.

MACStack Mascara Mega Brush

This mascara is my go-to
LookFantastic

MACStack Mascara Mega Brush, £27 £20.25

Whilst I don’t wear make-up every day, when I do, I simply cannot be without my MACStack mascara.

I’ve tried – literally – hundreds of mascaras, and very few succeed in living up to good ol’ MACStack.

Designed to be infinitely buildable, the slightly spiky, comb-like wand captures lashes from the inner and outer corners of your eyes for vertigo-inducing length and volume.

Whilst some users say it smudges easily, I’ve never run into this issue – and I often experience very watery, itchy eyes.

It has a striking jet-black formula, but the brand has also just launched a gorgeous chocolate brown version too.

Usually £27, now down to £20.25, it’s a great time to give it a go – and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Oral B Pro Series 1 Cross Action Black Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush

An essential![/caption]

Oral B Pro Series 1 Cross Action Black Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush, £70 £56

I put off buying an electric toothbrush for a long time.

Despite my dentist advising me to invest in one, my teeth were clean and healthy, so I didn’t see the point.

However, when I eventually took a chance on an Oral B Pro (now £56), I was converted.

Cleaning your teeth with an electric toothbrush leaves your mouth feeling so much cleaner, and even my dentist has noticed a difference.

This clever toothbrush features several innovative features, which help protect the health of your teeth and gums.

I’ve experienced sore gums in the past, so I love the toothbrush’s gum pressure control, which alerts you with a quick buzz when you press against your gums too harshly.

Plus the toothbrush’s timer is a tool – I often get carried away with brushing, which not only contributes to my (already lengthy) morning routine but also puts gum health at risk.

Now at just £56, down from £70, it’s time to prioritise your gum health, too.

Mavala Nail Colour Topcoat

Mavala Nail Colour Topcoat, £5.10 £6.40

There’s something about warm weather that makes us flock to the nail salon.

However, with salon prices soaring, going for your summer mani or pedi is now more expensive than ever.

Recently there’s been a lot of movement towards at-home DIY manicures, as nail products have advanced from the quick-to-chip varnishes we used to endure.

After you’ve applied your shade, paint on Mavala Nail Colour Topcoat (now £5.10), to lock in your colour and promote nail strength and shine.

The formula is quick drying and helps reduce chipping – meaning your DIY will even survive the pool.

Short on time? I often apply this polish directly to bare nails after trimming for a quick tidy-up that only takes a couple of minutes.

Now just £5.10, it’s a great time to stock up for the summer.

Vida Glow Natural Marine Collagen Sachets

Collagen is a vital ingredient
LookFantastic

Vida Glow Natural Marine Collagen Sachets,£31.20 £39

Created with a commitment to ingestible beauty that actually delivers results, Vida Glow is an Australian brand with a focus on skin health and radiance.

Known as the building blocks of your skin, collagen is vital for skin health, elasticity and texture, and whilst it’s naturally found in the body, levels begin to decrease after the age of 25.

I’ve tried a number of different collagen supplements, but nothing beats Vida Glow Natural Marine Collagen – as it’s one of the very few supplements that has actually provided me with results.

I’ve experienced a boosted skin glow and fewer breakouts, but other potential results can include thicker hair, stronger nails and suppler skin.

Marine collagen is derived from fish and has skin-healing qualities, and the sachets can be consumed once a day by simply pouring them into water.
