I’m sick of the rain & my toddler’s acting up – I begged mums for the best free activities & they came up with the goods

IT seems that the sun has decided to go away once again just before the half term, leaving many parents struggling with how to entertain their kids.

Thankfully, mums have come together to show their best free activities to keep the kids entertained even when it’s pouring down.

Taking to social media one desperate mum begged others to help her keep her toddlers entertained as nothing seemed to be working.

She wrote: “Just wondering what you all do when it’s absolutely miserable outside so a walk/trip to the park is well and truly off the cards.”

The mum was struggling as her two children were different ages and she wasn’t too sure what activities could be done while she keeps an eye on both.

“I have a 2-year-old and 3-month-old so don’t feel I could do soft play as I don’t feel comfortable letting 2yo go around the soft play alone while I’m with baby,” she explained.

“Currently struggling with behaviour at home which I think is down to boredom despite plenty if books, colouring, toys, TV etc.”

While most of us would rather be inside when it rains, many mums recommended getting outside to let the kids blow off some steam.

Taking to Mumsnet, they were quick to share their best ideas.

One person wrote: “A puddles walk. Mine were tiny altogether. Getting wrapped up, heading to the corner shop or round the block now for 40 minutes will save you’d sanity and make everything a thousand times easier.

“Prioritise it and think of the peace you’ll get because of your hard work.”

Another commented: “Check out Five Minute Mum on Instagram – loads of ideas that are super quick to set up and tidy away and don’t need anything complicated.”

“I often find a den helps. Activities that are boring become magically more exciting when done in a den. And I can usually swing it that once the den building is done my role is to sit in the den,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “I used to run a bath for my toddler for a long ‘waterplay’ session.”

“Consider indoor activities like building forts, baking simple treats, or having a dance party. Engage your 2-year-old with hands-on crafts, and involve them in baby-friendly activities too,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “I would also drive to a big hypermarket style supermarket. They have trolleys for babies and toddlers.
