Southland crime: Road rage in Evergreen Park, shoplifting ring in Orland Park, and more

Burbank
SEX OFFENDER: A 59-year-old Chicago man who last registered as a sex offender in April 2023 was charged with violating sex offender registration requirements, a felony, after the arresting officer proved he had claimed to be living in an uninhabitable residence, police said. Todd A. Huffer, Chicago, was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a child younger than 13, according to the Illinois State Police sex offender website. Huffer was arrested May 9 at a restaurant and the officer subsequently found the home at his legal address had a fire, was boarded up, abandoned and had no electrical service, police said.
Evergreen Park
ROAD RAGE: A female motorist told police she was punched in the face May 12 by a male motorist angry she changed lanes in front of him. The male driver followed behind, honking and screaming and then exited his car and attacked her when both vehicles came to a stop in the 9100 block of Western Avenue, she said.
Homer Glen
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: A 34-year-old University Park man who spit in a deputy’s face outside a banquet hall was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, according to Will County sheriff’s police and court records online. Richard E. Hightower, 700 block of Red Oak Lane, is also charged with possessing a controlled substance and resisting arrest, court records show. Hightower threw punches at deputies, attempted to free himself while handcuffed and kicked the squad windows, sheriff’s police said.
Homewood
FORGERY: Jaylin Clemons, 28, 16500 block of Evans Court, South Holland, was arrested and accused of forgery, possessing another’s financial card with intent to defraud, damaging property, obstructing identification and two counts of resisting arrest April 23 at the DTLR store, 17840 Halsted St., police said. Clemons, who had purchased items at DTLR with a stolen credit card and left, was arrested when he returned April 23, police said. The arresting officers recovered a stolen credit card from Clemons after he tried to flee, struggled with officers and damaged an officer’s uniform, police said.
Lockport
STRANGULATION CHARGED: A 35-year-old Lockport man who pushed his date to the ground and choked her after she told him he was too intoxicated to drive was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of aggravated domestic battery/strangulation, according to police and Will County court records online. The felony charge against Timothy J. Wallace, 16400 block of Newcastle Way, stems from a May 5 in a parking lot near 9th and State streets, police said.
ILLEGAL GUN: Matthew J. Fox, 48, 1500 Lawrence Avenue, Lockport, was arraigned Monday on a four-count felony gun charge stemming from his May 5 arrest by Illinois State Police, according to Will County court records online. Fox is charged with two counts of possessing a firearm while his state gun-possession authorization was revoked and two counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle, court records show.
New Lenox
UNWILLING PASSENGER: A 61-year-old Frankfort man was arrested for drunken driving Friday after his passenger exited the moving vehicle, police said. William E. Darling, 900 block of Kusc Road, had a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit when arrested at Schoolhouse Road and Joliet Highway, police said. The passenger was transported to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment, police said.

ARMED ROBBERY: A man wearing a hoodie and mask displayed a handgun and demanded two men hand over their wallets and cellphones at 9:45 p.m. May 12 in a parking lot at 95th Street and Brandt Avenue, police said.
Orland Park
SHOPLIFTING RING: Three Chicago men were charged with financial institution fraud/continuing financial crimes enterprise after taking merchandise retailing for $1,276.39 from Marshalls department store, 101 Orland Park Place, police said. Orlando Velasquez Varguilla, 24, and Pedro S. Izquiel-Omana, 37, who listed their address as the Inn at the Standard Club in the Loop, Jose M. Perez-Flores, 28, who said he lived in the city’s “landing zone” in the 800 block of Des Plaines Street, and Jose R. Barico-Pena, 26, who provided an address near the intersection of Roosevelt Road and Central Park in the Homan Square neighborhood, were arrested May 11 by officers investigating a theft at Skechers shoe store, 15150 La Grange Road, police said. Officers recovered clothing, two suitcases and a duffel bag from Marshalls and boxes of shoes from Skechers, police said.
DUI CRASH: Jasmyne B. Monaco, 31, 15100 block of Teebrook Drive, Orland Park, was arrested and accused of drunken driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit, illegally transporting alcohol and driving without insurance May 13 after rear-ending another vehicle at 157th Street and Harlem Avenue, police said.
Palos Heights
ILLEGAL GUN: Talal Alkobari, 27, 11200 block of Harlem Avenue, Worth, was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon during a May 8 traffic stop in the 6400 block of College Drive, after an officer recovered a loaded handgun from the car’s floorboard and determined Alkobari lacked Illinois government authorization to have a firearm, police said.
HIT-RUN: Demarcus C. Macon, 23, 6300 block of Fox Run Lane, Matteson, was arrested May 10 and accused of leaving the scene of a crash in the 12800 block of Harlem Avenue and driving without insurance after investigators used a license plate surveillance system to identify Macon’s vehicle, police said.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: A 27-year-old Sauk Village man who accessed his former first-floor apartment by breaking a window is charged with trespassing and damaging property, according to police and Will County court records online. Officers arrested Desean J. Goings, 22300 block of Strassburg Avenue, in the apartment Sunday in the 300 block of West 35th Street, police said.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Anbraill Sangster, 24, 1900 block of Ashland Avenue, was arrested and accused of aggravated battery to a police officer after she slapped an officer twice in the face while being interviewed on the sidewalk during a disorderly conduct investigation in the 200 block of Chicago Road, police said.
