Stuyvesant man accused of home burglary

KINDERHOOK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Stuyvesant man was arrested on Tuesday and is accused of burglarizing a home in Kinderhook. Jason Pelas, 39, faces multiple charges.

According to New York State Police, a Kinderhook resident contacted Columbia 911 while watching a suspect enter their home through a window on home security cameras. Police say the suspect went through the house searching for valuables.

The suspect, later identified as Pelas, was found in nearby woods. He was arrested shortly after.

Charges:

  • Second-degree burglary
  • Third-degree criminal mischief

Pelas was arraigned in the Village of Kinderhook Court and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear in court on June 3.
