Sustainable Saratoga putting on Pollinator Palooza

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Sustainable Saratoga will host the third annual Pollinator Palooza on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Oligny’s Garden Center in Gansevoort. The third annual plant sale has a selection of native flowers and plants to help increase the pollinator population of the area.

Over 30 varieties of native plants will be for sale, and customers can purchase them by cash or check. Customers can ask other gardeners questions and learn about the importance of native plants to pollinators. Sustainable Saratoga volunteers grew 1,600 plants in the last two months and will be available at the sale.

Gardeners can have their soil pH levels tested by the Cornell Cooperative Extension by bringing a quarter-cup of dry soil. Activities for children and raffles for gift certificates, books, plants, and gift baskets will also be up for grabs.

Pollinator Palooza event chair Dianna Goodwin said every garden, regardless of size, is vital in helping pollinators stick around. "Planting native plants is an essential part of creating food and habitat for our native pollinators," she said.
