DEC: EC Police save 3 from damaged, stranded boat

An Environmental Conservation Officer saw three in distress on a boat in the Hudson River while on boat patrol on May 8.

HUDSON RIVER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Environmental Conservation Officer saw three in distress on a boat in the Hudson River while on boat patrol on May 8. The boat hit a large rock near Esopus Island which caused water to make its way onto the boat.

The officer was able to respond to the incident and help the three people on the boat onto the police boat. He brought them back to shore at Norrie Point State Park.

Crews recovered the damaged boat the next day. The Department of Environmental Conservation reminds boaters to follow navigation charts and channel buoys on the Hudson River in order to stay safe.
