15-year-old driver dies following crash in east Austin

The Austin Police Department identified a 15-year-old girl who died two days after a single-vehicle crash in East Austin.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department identified a 15-year-old girl who died two days after a single-vehicle crash in east Austin.

According to APD, the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 969 and Ed Bluestein Boulevard Service Road heading north.

APD said one adult and four juveniles, including the driver, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver was identified as 15-year-old Syniah Norvell. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died Sunday.

The four other passengers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to police.

APD said this incident was being investigated as Austin's 27th fatal crash of 2024.
