MasterChef fans blast BBC final for ‘waste of time’ element as they demand major shake-up

MASTERCHEF fans have been pushed to boiling point after tuning in to the final episode.

Viewers were left fuming after being faced with a “waste of time” segment to the finale show of the current BBC series.

But it took more than 20 minutes before any cooking began[/caption]

In the first 23 minutes, not one of the three finalists even lifted a pot or pan to do any cooking.

Instead, viewers were shown videos of Brin Pirathapan, Louise Lyons Macleod and Chris Willoughby back home with stories about their lives, childhoods and families.

Taking to X, fans have demanded the segment is ditched in place of some actual kitchen action.

One wrote: “#masterchef..they need to change the format of this…any cooking or time to order out?!”

Another added: “More than 20 minutes into the MasterChef final and they FINALLY start cooking something. Not exactly a compelling start to an hour of TV.”

A third penned: “Thought MasterChef was supposed to be about cooking?!”

And someone else complained: “It’s a cooking show not a bloody life story show, get them in the kitchen.”

Finalist Chris was first up and he was quick to talk about his life as a circus performer.

The budding chef, who had an unsuccessful attempt on MasterChef last year, was even filmed in his ‘fire breathing pig’ costume.

Louise, meanwhile, was filmed as she rode a tractor back home on her farm.

The mum-of-one opened up about her previous battle with cancer and her childhood memories of cooking with her grandma.

Vet Brin was seen working in the operating theatre at his practice before serving up a curry to his proud parents, fiancée and his family at home.

A montage from their time in the MasterChef competition was also aired for each of the finalists before they began cooking.

Eventually, the trio entered the kitchen and were able to show off their best three-course meals for judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

Gobsmacked Brin, from Chelmsford, Essex, was then crowned MasterChef champion 2024.
