VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Blackbirds Bike Cafe has set its opening day at 43 South Main Street in Voorheesville. The bike cafe is officially opening on Wednesday, May 29.

The bike cafe is next to Blackbirds Tavern, which is set to open later this year. Both Blackbirds Tavern and Blackbirds Bike Cafe are part of the Business for Good family of companies. Business for Good invests in people to build better businesses, stronger communities, and a more equitable world.

"The opening of Blackbirds Bike Cafe is exciting news for our team,” said Business for Good’s Director of Restaurants, Beth Alexander. “With local excitement as a constant source of encouragement, and the warm weather bringing visitors to the Rail Trail, it’s a great moment to be opening at the start of summer."

The Blackbirds Bike Cafe menu includes pastries, coffee, sandwiches, soup, and salads, as well as grab-and-go items such as smoothies and acai bowls. The bike cafe will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Monday.

Voorheesville is the hometown of Business for Good co-Founder Ed Mitzen. He saw an opportunity to turn the space left by Stewart’s Shops on South Main Street into businesses for the community.

“With Blackbirds Bike Cafe opening up, and Blackbirds Tavern coming soon, it’s exciting for us to bring new opportunities to Voorheesville, and the chance for residents to support restaurants that will give back to their community," said Mitzen.

Voorheesville residents can get a sneak peek inside the bike cafe on Saturday, May 25 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's the same day as the Voorheesville Memorial Day Parade. The full menu won't be available that day, but the cafe will have coffee, lemonade, iced tea, and sugar cookies.
