‘The bigger the better’ Primark shoppers rave as iconic 90s trend returns to stores
FASHION is always changing, but every so often one item will find its way back into our wardrobes.
Shoppers are racing to the checkout though, after seeing a classic 90s trend return to shelves and it’s not hard to see why.
If you lived in the nineties, you’ll probably remember it as a time with some questionable fashion choices.
Whether you were rocking a grungy aesthetic with flannel shirts or proudly wearing shell suits into town, there will be at least one trend you’ll have regretted wearing.
Though time has moved on, there is one trend we can’t get enough of: the jumbo scrunchie.
While you might have worn them to school, the hair accessory is back in a big way and is even more embellished the second time around.
In fact, the fast fashion store decided to show off their impressive range in a recent TikTok.
There is something for everyone with these accessories, as Primark currently have large satin scrunchie for just £3 in stores.
You could also go for a super girly salmon pink shade, which is perfect for unleashing your inner Elle Woods.
Coming in a classic black design or champagne hue, the product description says these scrunchies are perfect for adding ‘some elegant drama to your updo’.
However, we particularly love wearing the silky hair ties at night – especially if you are wanting to protect your hair.
Alternatively, you could go with a super summery look as Primark also have stunning jumbo scrunchies with Broderie embroidery.
The store even says that the white scrunchie is the perfect match for the summer staple: the Broderie dress.
You could, however, bag the summery hair ties in black as these ‘must-have’ accessories start from as little as £3.
With so many styles to choose from, it’s hard to pick just one.
As the high street giant’s video may have been seen over 50,000 times, we reckon these accessories won’t stay on shelves for long.
Even the store’s social media team seemed excited about the trend, joking in the caption: “The bigger the better.”
Fans seemed just as impressed, with one gushing: “So pretty.”
Another added: “I have the 3rd pink one and it’s so pretty.”
Meanwhile, others tagged their friends as they were desperate not to miss out on the nineties trend.
For any one tempted to style these accessories this summer, you’ll have to visit your local Primark as most items are available on their website sadly.
And if you weren’t already sold on the nineties revival, shoppers have also noticed the return of zigzag hair bands and spiral hair elastics in Primark.
If only we’d kept our hair accessories instead of filling our parents’ house with Beanie Babies, eh?

AS a child of the 90s seeing trends I’ve worn come back leaves me with mixed feelings.
Whilst pieces like scrunchies bring joyful memories to my mind, it doesn’t mean I like them.
For me as an adult, I can’t shake the feeling of looking like a 9-year-old on my way to school in a scrunchie.
Jelly shoes I don’t have that many fond memories of, most of my recollection is gritty sand weighing down my feet and plastic cutting into my ankles – so I would avoid the blisters ladies.
I love looking back at 90s trends with the glamorous supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford wearing simple slip skirts and oversized suiting, trends like that are just as stylish today and look as glamorous.
Mom shorts were huge in the 90s, as were Bermuda shorts which are big news this season, as well as fluid, wide-leg trousers.
Lets just hope that shell suits don’t suddenly appear in shops.
