BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty replaced for a second week as replacement is forced to present alone in show shake up

BBC Breakfast has undergone a huge format shake up.

Usually on a Thursday, viewers can expect to wake up to updates from, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt in the Salford studio.

However, for a second week Naga, 49, is missing in action as she has been replaced by Nina Warhurst, 43.

The long-running BBC Breakfast host seems to be taking some much needed down time away from the show.

However, that is not all as producers opted to switch things up in the wake of the general election.

Viewers may have been surprised to see that Charlie, 61, was not sitting on the iconic red sofa.

Instead, he was anchoring the morning programme live from Downing Street.

This was in the wake of Rishi Sunak’s snap General Election announcement yesterday in the rain.

The longtime presenter braved the elements himself as he interviewed political leaders and correspondents on location.

This also meant that Nina Warhurst sat in the studio alone as she read out the other headlines of the day.

She cut a solo figure in the BBC‘s Salford HQ, without a co-host next to her as she held down the fort and presented other segments.

Viewers seemed a little confused with the new format considering Prime Minister Rishi Sunak appeared on TV from Ilkeston in Derbyshire.

They took to social media in their droves to let their feelings known about the on-screen changes.

One viewer asked on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Is nina in a different studio than the regular breakfast one #bbcbreakfast.”

A second viewer fumed: “I wish Charlie and Nina were together on whichever location. It’s just not the same when they are apart. #BBCBreakfast”

“What is the point of #bbcbreakfast Charlie presenting the programme from outside downing Street today?”, exclaimed a third fan.

As someone else enquired: “#BBCbreakfast why send Charlie and team to No 10, when the PM is up North!!. Green screen not working?”

And a fifth viewer added: “Got to feel for Charlie Stayt going to the PM’s house to interview him and the PM buggering off to Derbyshire #bbcbreakfast”
