HAVE you ever taken something from the supermarket and eaten it on the way round?

Well, it’s something lots of people admit to, while others consider it one of the biggest supermarket crimes.

But one traveller has sparked a fierce debate after showing her husband devouring an entire packet of blue cheese as they did their shopping in Aldi.

Sharing a video of her man thoroughly enjoying his supermarket treat on TikTok, Tracey wrote over the top: “Aldi, I am sorry.”

In the clip, she told husband Mark: “No, you can’t eat it now.

“What you doing? Can you wait to get home?

“Can you wait till we get indoors? You ain’t that bloody hungry.

“Oh, come on, Mark. Honest to God, you are a show you are.”

“I was hungry!” Mark insisted.

To which Tracey replied: “You ain’t that hungry that you couldn’t wait till you paid for it, could you, Mark?

“What’s people gonna say if they see you walking around like that?”

Tracey added that when they got to the tills and put through the empty packet, the cashier would be wondering where the cheese was.

“I’ll tell him you ate it,” she insisted.

“I can’t believe you can’t wait to get outside Mark, at least eat in the car!”

“It’s a good bit of cheese though,” Mark insisted, as he chowed down on the 450-calorie block.

As Tracey continued to insist Mark blames her for being the “cheese enabler”, he insisted he just wanted to eat his cheese “in peace”.

“Where shall I put this?” Mark wondered as he held the packet, before Tracey strictly instructed him to put it in the basket so that they could pay for it.

People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “That’s wrong that.”

“My wife would be ashamed if I did this!” another added.

“Classy,” a third said sarcastically.

“I worked at asda and I think this is wrong because the majority of ppl don’t pay, dump the empty packages around the store,” someone else wrote.

“I used to work in a major supermarket,” another added.

“Classed as theft if you eat before paying.”

“My absolute pet hate, people eating food in the supermarket before paying for it…..WHY?” someone else wrote.

Is eating supermarket food before you've paid for it allowed?

NO, it's not. In fact, according to section 6 of the theft act 1968, it's actually illegal.

Criminal law specialist Rachel Adamson said: “While you might have the honest intention to pay for a chocolate bar that you’ve eaten while shopping in a supermarket, it is still technically illegal.

“Buying a product at the till is what transfers the ownership from the product belonging to the shopkeeper, to it belonging to you.

“And only when that sale is complete do you have the legal right to consume or use it.”

“Have some patience!!!!”

“This is why I shop in Waitrose,” another insisted.

“What a beautiful manners,” someone else said sarcastically.

However, others were more on board with Mark’s actions.

“That is legendary behaviour there,” one wrote.

“Love the cheese king!!”

“Can’t see a problem as long as the empty pack is scanned at the checkout,” another added.

“Done similar myself in the past.”

“I do this all the time – I always munch on a wrap while shopping in aldi,” a third admitted.

“That’s me walking around tesco, I love cheese myself, cheese is life.” someone else said.
