Peak heat of the week felt Thursday around Portland area

Another round of warmer weather and sunnier skies is expected for the Portland-Vancouver area Thursday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Another round of warmer weather and sunnier skies is expected for the Portland-Vancouver area Thursday.

Afternoon highs will return to the upper 60s to low 70s on Thursday afternoon. Sunshine is the biggest culprit for this week's warming trend. Another tip in the jet stream Friday will cool temperatures and bring rain back to the region through Saturday.

Scattered rain showers will return to the region Friday and take western Oregon and Washington into the long holiday weekend.

The rest of the Memorial Day weekend will warm into the mid-70s as skies begin to dry Sunday. The sunny and warmer weather will continue through the middle of next week. More potential rain returns to the Portland-Vancouver area by the Wednesday of next week.
