2024 INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RESOURCE DAY: LASG LAUDS ADMIN OFFICERS
The Lagos State Government has commended the Administrative and Human Resource personnel in all General Hospitals in the State for their unalloyed commitment to duty and selfless service which ultimately has led to the marked improvement in service rendering and staff management, experienced in all hospitals.
Chairman of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. (Mrs.) Atinuke Onayiga stated at an event organised by the Commission to celebrate the Year 2024 International Human Resources Day held recently at the General Hospital, Odan, with the theme: “Shaping The New Future”.
She enjoined the HR personnel not to rest on their oars but put in more effort to further improve their current standard, stressing that they must also embrace modern and digitalised technology that is presently shaping the way things are done across the globe.
According to Dr. Onayiga, “HR is the powerhouse of any organisation, especially the hospitals, they are resilient workers, the writer of everything, ensuring all staff are happy as well as the pillar of support for all Medical Directors”.
In her remarks at the well-attended event, the Chairman of the occasion, and Medical Director/CEO of General Hospital, Odan, Dr. (Mrs.) Aduke Mafe corroborated Dr. Onayiga’s assertion by calling on the Administrative Department of the Hospital to move towards digitalisation and computerisation of their jobs and tasks, for the growth and development of the hospital.
She said, “The Administrative Department is like the neck while the technical team is the head. When the neck is cut off the head would no longer function”.
Head of the Administrative Department and Human Resources, Mrs. Fatima Raheem asserted that the workplace as managed by human resource personnel must move from paper and files to automation in order not to become obsolete soon.
Speaking further, the visibly elated HR boss quoted from the World Economic Forum which ascribed 65 per cent of workdays as becoming obsolete and the ones existing due to the use of automation through artificial intelligence.
Two impactful Lectures were delivered on “The Contribution of Administration and HR in the Hospital” and “Admin/HR as the Organisational Engine Room”, by Mrs. Amina Yeside Hamza of the Public Service Office (PSO) and Dr. Simeon Omotayo Onaleye, Director, Quality Improvement, General Hospital, Lagos, respectively.
Notable personalities were also in attendance, to deliver lectures and goodwill messages that left the audience well-informed and well-educated about the importance and value-added stance of HR to the growth and development of government hospitals, especially in the area of job deliveries and performance.
Dignitaries in attendance include the top echelon of the State Health Service Commission, Government officials from various quarters, as well as guests.
