Carson, who will see his new deal keep him at City past his 39th birthday, initially joined on a two-year loan from Derby in 2019.

The four-time England international then made things permanent with City in 2021.

And according to Capology, his contracts over the five-year spell have seen him earn in excess of £7MILLION – pocketing an initial weekly wage of £25,000 before his improved terms in 2022 earned him £30,000 per week.

Despite that wage making him the lowest paid star in the City first team, Carson has actually earned NINE TIMES more money per appearance than Erling Haaland.

Haaland, who earns a base rate of £375,000 per week, has earned £378,865 for each one of his 97 club appearances for Pep Guardiola‘s side.

While because Carson has featured just TWICE during his five years at the Etihad, his earnings per appearance come out at a staggering £3.51MILLION.

Carson’s two Man City appearances have seen him register just 107 minutes of competitive football in the last five years.

It’s of course worth noting that Haaland’s appearance rates are taken from his base salary rate and the Norwegian bagsman is understood to earn a whopping £850,000 per week when his bonuses are included.

However, even when accounting for that eye-watering figure, Haaland would still have earned four times less cash per appearance than Carson.

Although it may seem as though Carson is stealing a living, the former Liverpool, Leeds and West Brom keeper is in fact a crucial part of the set up at Man City.

Carson WILL receive Prem medal

SCOTT CARSON is in line to receive another Prem title medal – to add to his impressive collection.

The former England keeper was one of the first to the podium on Sunday as he was on the bench as Manchester City clinched a fourth straight crown.

He did not take a medal at the time as he did not feature in a single game for the champions over the course of the season.

However he is expected to receive one from the club in the coming weeks – just like he has done in each of the past three seasons.

Anyone who makes five appearances in the league over the course of a season is guaranteed a medal from the Prem.

However the champions usually receive around 40 and in recent years City have made sure they look after players who have not reached that figure – but play their part.

Despite only making two appearances in his five years at the Etihad, Carson, 38, is a much loved member of the first team squad.

He was filmed leading the celebrations among the City squad back in the dressing room minutes after the final whistle of Sunday’s final game against West Ham.

Boss Pep Guardiola is also close to Carson and has spoken before of the important role the ex-Derby keeper plays with squad morale.

The veteran keeper also received a medal when City ended their long-wait for the Champions League trophy in June last year.

England midfielder Kalvin Phillips made four league appearances for City before heading out on loan to West Ham – and will also get a medal.

However Aymeric Laporte (12 mins), Cole Palmer (10 mins) and James McAtee (1 min) are likely to miss out.

The experienced pro is a huge character in the dressing room for Pep’s side and has been paramount in the development of the other goalkeepers at the club.

Speaking to Man City after penning his new one-year deal he discussed how he wants to continue helping the side going forward.

He said: ” I’m looking forward to another season as part of this incredible squad at City.

“Every day I work hard and learn something new from Pep, Xabi Mancisidor and the world class group of players.

“Hopefully I can continue to help our goalkeepers perform at their best as we challenge for even more trophies.”

While the club’s Director of Football Begiristain said: “Scott has been important to our successes over recent seasons, supporting his team-mates and training hard as part of our excellent goalkeeping unit.

“We’re very pleased he has agreed to extend his contract. Hopefully he can help the squad and be ready when called upon on the pitch in the 2024/25 season.”

During his time at Man City, Carson has helped the club win four Premier League titles, two League Cups and the Champions League.
