Redditor OriginalFrylock shared their home transformation in a viral post.

They explained they’d started with an old Lowe’s fire pit they’d owned for two years.

After years of keeping up with maintenance with the vintage fire pit, they decided it was time for an upgrade.

“It was $50 from Lowe’s. I had scrubbed it out with dish soap and steel wool a number of times,” they said.

“[I’ve also] repainted it with Rustoleum black grill spray paint over a dozen times.

“The last six months, though, I had gotten lazy, and it rusted through. You can see [the] sand and ash underneath.”

They decided to build their own pit, picking up all the necessary supplies from Lowe’s and hauling them into their car.

Their order totaled 60 garden blocks, construction tubes, and bags of gravel and sand.

After digging a hole, they filled it with gravel and layered garden blocks around its perimeter.

They continued stacking blocks until they formed a deep well.

Next, they added sand to their desired height and laid down a bag of “fancy” gravel.

“Really, its only purpose is to cover the dirt between the paver stones and the fire pit,” they explained.

Once the gravel was in, they placed the grate from their previous fire pit over for rainy days.

A simple fire test confirmed that all of their hard work had paid off.

People were thoroughly impressed with their handiwork and innovative technique.

“Yeah, that’s one fine-looking barbecue pit…why doesn’t mine look like that??” asked one commenter.

“Posts like this make it look so [easy]… but then I think about digging, and my back is like, ‘Nope!'” said another.

Many were surprised by how efficient they were with their work.

“Only three trips to Lowes?” asked one commenter.

“I can’t change a frickin light switch without four trips, 2 energy drinks, and like seven items I will probably never need and have nothing to do with electrical.”

“If it makes you feel more proud of yourself, I can say with certainty that if I ever made a ‘DIY firepit”‘ post, it would just be a hole in the ground or some random rocks in some dirt,” joked another.
