Outnumbered cast, plot and filming locations explained – all about the BBC comedy returning for special this Christmas

OUTNUMBERED fans will be delighted to know that the family comedy is set to return.

The hilarious programme finished eights years ago but it’s due to return with a Christmas special.

What is Outnumbered about?

Outnumbered followed the Brockman family and their every day relatable issues.

Hugh Dennis plays the father, Claire Skinner is the mother and their three children are played by Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez.

BBC describes the show as “the daily rollercoaster of life with three young children”.

The self-improvised comedy first aired in 2007, with the last episode being in 2016.

Those watching observe the family going through some serious and some not so serious situations which involve politics, education, friendships and more.

Ramona took to her Instagram to announce that the actors would be getting together for the Christmas special.

She wrote: “WE ARE SO BACK !!!! OUTNUMBERED CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 2024 SEE YOU SOON.”

The episode will follow the chaos in the downsized home of Pete and Sue Brockman, as struggle with the challenges of parenting kids who are now adults.

The parents are said to get their children together along with a new grandchild to have a family Christmas.

Hugh said of the show’s return: “I can’t wait for the Brockmans to be back together again.

“Pete and Sue have downsized, the children are no longer children, but I’m sure family life will prove to be just as chaotic as ever.”

Hugh Dennis plays dad Pete who works as a teacher at a school.

He struggles to keep his children under control along with his wife Sue.

Hugh is no stranger to working in comedy as he has quite the back catalogue to his name.

Working on this wonderful BBC comedy doesn’t feel like work and is one of the greatest joys for us all.

Claire Skinner

His career started out working on the likes of Spitting Image, Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week and My Hero.

He and co-star Claire Skinner are now in a relationship which was confirmed in 2018.

Claire Skinner plays mum Sue in Outnumbered.

Speaking about the programme returning, she said: “I’m really looking forward to being reunited with my TV family.

“Working on this wonderful BBC comedy doesn’t feel like work and is one of the greatest joys for us all.”

She is best known as Clare on the British television comedy Life Begins and as Lucinda in the first series of Chef! alongside Lenny Henry.

She has made appearances in TV shows such as Lark Rise to Candleford where for two episodes she played Mrs Macey.

2011 saw her appear in the Doctor Who Christmas special.

Claire has multiple theatre roles under her belt – with her career starting by starring in Hanky Park and being in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg in 2019.

Tyger Drew-Honey

Tyger Drew-Honey plays the eldest Brockman son called Jake in Outnumbered.

In terms of his film career, he took on roles in Horrid Henry: The Movie and Up All Night.

He has done more than 200 voiceovers for television and radio including for Red Bull and Dell and was part of the children’s animated series The Large Family.

He was also a presenter on the CBBC show Friday Download.

Tyger took on something different in 2017 when he entered MasterChef but didn’t manage to make it to the final.

Daniel Roche

Daniel Roche is middle child Ben in the BBC comedy.

He has slightly shied from an acting career but has appeared in Casualty, Just William and Little Crackers.

He was nominated for Best Male Newcomer at the 2009 British Comedy Awards for his role in Outnumbered.

Ramona plays hilarious youngest daughter Karen in Outnumbered.

While she was still on Outnumbered, Ramona appeared as Imogen Pollock in the film Enid which detailed the life of children’s writer Enid Blyton.

She has also appeared in The King’s Speech as Princess Margaret and Arthur Christmas.

In 2009 Ramona became the first child to win the British Comedy Award for Best Female Comedy Newcomer.

It was reported in 2019 that the actress had started studying Spanish and Mandarin at the University of Manchester.

Where is Outnumbered going to be filmed?

It has not yet been revealed where the Christmas special of Outnumbered will be filmed.

However the previous series were set in Chiswick, West London and shot on location in Wandsworth.

The house used for external shots is in Dempster Road.

The Brockman’s fictional address is 19 Keely Road, London, W4 2CF.

How can I watch Outnumbered?

The Christmas special episode will air over the festive period but a specific date has not yet been released.
