Louisiana man accused of sexually assaulting victim in Monroe

MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) -- On May 20, 2024, detectives of the Monroe Police Department began a sex crime investigation at an apartment complex on Forrest Avenue. During the investigation, authorities were advised that 33-year-old Spencer D. Simon allegedly forced the female victim into his bedroom and raped her.
According to court documents, the victim attempted to escape Simon but she failed to do so due to his strength. After the incident, Simon allegedly contacted the victim on Facebook Messenger stating he enjoyed the alleged sexual abuse.
Once detectives arrived at the residence, they obtained a search warrant and seized items of evidentiary value. Simon was interviewed by detectives and he allegedly admitted to performing sexual acts on the victim but stopped upon her request. He also mentioned that the sexual acts were consensual.
Simon was placed under arrest and transported to the Ouachita Correctional Center. Upon arrival, authorities searched Simon and located narcotics in his front right pocket.
Simon was charged with Second-Degree Rape, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Contraband Defined. He was also charged with Armed Robbery and Criminal Conspiracy for an unrelated 2022 case.
His bond was set at $297,750.
