We’re just days away from Pride Month — that holy season of the Left dedicated to the celebration of its most devastating sins. (If you aren’t already preparing to boycott major corporations and every coffee shop, you probably should be.) Yet, for some reason, conservatives, often ignoramuses when it comes to strategy, have started to peel the bells of cultural victory this week.

The question always worth asking is: Should we be?

Earlier this week, Brett Cooper, host of the Daily Wire’s Comments Section, published a heart-warming segment celebrating conservative cultural wins in the last few months. “After four years … it’s nice to see that there is a level of normalcy returning to our culture,” Cooper said. (READ MORE: The Beginning of the End for the Soros Revolution?)

Cooper isn’t the only one to observe that conservatives might be making strides in the right direction. Don Surber wrote on the same topic in his Substack column this week, noting that not only has lawfare waged against former President Donald Trump backfired for Democrats (a point The American Spectator’s Melissa Mackenzie and Scott McKay made on a recent episode of The Spectacle podcast), but liberal attempts to cancel the Kansas City Chief’s Harrison Butker and the WNBA’s Caitlin Clark have flopped miserably.

It turns out that football fans care more about Butker’s ability to kick a ball than his political and cultural takes. Basketball fans (particularly those who watch the WNBA) have no problem celebrating the accomplishments of a player who is “white, straight and from Iowa.”

If you spend any time scrolling through YouTube Shorts or TikTok videos, you may have noticed a curious uptick in the number of women lamenting their nine-to-five office jobs and speculating that maybe, just maybe, being a stay-at-home wife and mother isn’t such a bad deal after all. After years of being told that men and women should be equal in the workplace no matter what, it seems that Gen Zers and millennials (for all their faults) are interested in questioning the narrative that all women find fulfillment in cubicles.

But what most likely got conservatives ruminating about the hopeful direction the culture seems to be turning was the reaction of normal American students to the destructive protests that broke out on their college campuses last month and the subsequent college response. American frat boys had no patience with protesters who tried to replace the American flag with a Palestinian one on the University of North Carolina’s campus in Chapel Hill. Students across social media ranted about how their college graduations were being canceled — and they were especially livid, since these students had been denied a high school graduation during the COVID lockdowns. Universities themselves seem to have finally come to the conclusion that DEI programs are more harmful than helpful, and many of them, including UNC, decided to nuke their woke programs (in UNC’s case, that funding ended up going to the campus police).

All of this is good news. Incredibly good news.

It’s certainly an indication that the culture is turning in the right direction. Americans are beginning to wake up and pay attention to the insidious direction in which progressives have been taking the country. They’re starting to fight back, and they might even be winning.

That all being said (and celebrated), conservatives should maintain a healthy dose of cynicism. Just because we’ve won a few battles doesn’t mean that we’ve won the war. That is an important perspective to maintain as we head into Pride Month and the season of drag shows in libraries and on our city streets. It will also be an important perspective politically as the election season heats up. (READ MORE: Forget Cancel Culture. The Real Danger Is the Left’s Creation Culture.)

The true test of these recent trends of victory in the culture war is in front of us, not behind us. This isn’t to rain on anyone’s parade — conservatives should be joyful, and that includes celebrating the small wins — but instead to say that we shouldn’t rest on our laurels.
