The International Court of Justice (ICJ) today, Friday, May 24, issued an order to Israel to halt military operations on Rafah, southern Gaza.

Nawaf Salam, the President of the International Court, stated, “Israel must immediately cease its military attacks in Rafah.”

The court has warned that the attack on Rafah poses an immediate danger to the people of Palestine.

The United Nations Supreme Court also stated that the Rafah border crossing with Egypt should be opened for humanitarian aid.

Rafah, located south of Gaza City, is the main route for humanitarian aid provided by international organizations. According to this court, cutting off this route risks famine.

While this court can issue legal rulings on disputes between countries, it has limited enforcement power to ensure compliance with its rulings.

Media reported that moments after the International Court of Justice’s decision, a series of airstrikes were conducted on the Shabura camp in the center of Rafah city.

Residents told the media that they heard terrifying bombing sounds and saw a column of smoke rising into the air from the buildings.
