Former Tottenham Hotspur defender, Alan Hutton, has suggested Dominic Solanke is ready to make the ‘step up’ to the next level by joining Spurs this summer, and he thinks the Bournemouth man has all the attributes to succeed there.

Bournemouth

It has been an incredible season for Solanke, who fired 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth in what is his best-ever top-flight campaign by quite some distance (Transfermarkt).

Naturally, that form has caught the eye of other clubs, with Spurs reportedly in a three-way battle with London rivals West Ham and Arsenal to sign the 26-year-old striker (Football Insider).

Apparently, it would take an offer of around £50m to prise Solanke away from Bournemouth this summer, due to the fact Bournemouth are reluctant to let him go, plus the four-year contract the forward still has at the club (Football Insider).

Spurs move would be good for Solanke

If Spurs do indeed pay up and sign Solanke, Alan Hutton thinks it would be a good move for all parties.

He told Football Insider: “I think he could [get better]. He’s had an outstanding season but he’s not even made it into the England squad, which he’s probably a little bit down about.

“He’s scored goals, he holds the ball up, he links play, he’s confident. He’s really thrived at Bournemouth and this could be the next step for him. To go to a team like Tottenham, where he will be loved and he’ll get the chance to play with freedom. I can see it happening.

“He fits into that system very well. Kulusevski played against Sheffield United and scored two goals while Son looked electric out on the left. They’ve got options, and I think he could come into the squad to be the guy who’s going to score the 20-plus goals that they need.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do think Solanke would be a good fit for us, as he works hard in the press and is able to score all kinds of goals. He would lap up most of the chances we fire into the box, that’s for sure. I just fear that this season was a bit of a fluke, as he’s never scored anywhere near this many goals in the Premier League before.
