Nearly 1,500 Afghan migrants deported from Pakistan

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations of Afghanistan has announced the deportation of over one thousand Afghan migrants from Pakistan.

The ministry stated in a press release on Saturday, May 25, that a total of 1,479 Afghan migrants have returned to the country after being expelled by Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that these migrants re-entered the country through the Spin Boldak border and the Torkham border in Nangarhar province after being expelled by Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) recently stated that support for women and girls remains a primary concern among returnees, as they face multiple dangers.

According to the latest report by this commission, among the returnees, 80 per cent are women and children, with 48 per cent being women and girls, and another 13 per cent being female heads of households.

Recently, the neighboring countries, including Iran and Pakistan, have increased the forced deportation of Afghan migrants amid a dire situation. These migrants face several challenges, including a lack of foodstuffs, shelter, water, and job opportunities.
