Indian authorities have announced that following a fire at an amusement park in the state of Gujarat, 24 people have died including children and nine others have been injured.

Agence France-Presse reported that Prabhav Joshi, a local official in Gujarat, stated that the incident occurred on Saturday, May 25, in the Rajkot area of the state.

He emphasized that rescue operations are ongoing and that the death toll may increase.

Additionally, Ilesh Kher, a firefighter in Rajkot, confirmed that more than 300 people were at the amusement park.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep distress over the incident, stating, “My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones.”

It is worth mentioning that in the past, dozens of people have died in India due to explosions and fires.

Just last Thursday, an explosion and fire at a chemical factory in the country resulted in the deaths of nine people and injuries to 64 others.
