The agent of rumoured Tottenham target Albert Gudmundsson has confirmed that Napoli have expressed a concrete interest in signing his client this summer.

Gudmundsson has been one of the best players on show across the Italian top flight this season and the versatile forward has been widely tipped to swap Genoa for a bigger club this summer.

Various outlets over the past few weeks have reported that Spurs are battling the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli for the player, with some sources suggesting that the Lilywhites might have the financial muscle to blow away the aforementioned clubs (Inter Live).

However, it was reported by Football Transfers last week that the 26-year-old may snub Tottenham’s approach as his priority is to remain in the Serie A.

Just a few days ago, Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Napoli had stepped up their pursuit of the Iceland international and had opened talks with Genoa over a deal.

The report explained that the 2022-23 Serie A champions could cash in on Victor Osimhen and the Nigerian’s departure would leave the club with a fair amount of cash, which they can use to agree a deal for Gudmunddson.

When asked about Napoli’s rumoured interest in his client, the forward’s agent, Gabriele Giuffrida, has now told Radio Kiss Kiss 24 (as relayed by CalcioMercato): “Yes, it’s true. Napoli’s interest in Albert is absolutely concrete.”

If Tottenham did hold a serious interest in Gudmundsson, one would have expected the North London club to have already made some advances for the attacking midfielder.

Perhaps, the Lilywhites are waiting until the talks with Genoa for Djed Spence begin as they see that as the opportune time to negotiate for the 26-year-old.
