‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 33 wish list: 6 men we’d love to see [POLL]
With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete. Three of my past suggestions actually did end up cast on the show: Frankie Muniz (who placed third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who placed second on season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of male celebs I think the show should consider to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, then vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know which you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.
Rowan Atkinson
This British actor/comedian made a name for himself as the title character on “Mr. Bean” and as the voice of Zazu in Disney’s “The Lion King.” Atkinson has also tackled musical theatre, playing Fagin in a West End revival of “Oliver!” He would be the oldest Mirror Ball champ in history, but his dance and acting background could make him a serious contender like Donny Osmond (season nine champion), whose wit and charm helped him win the Mirror Ball Trophy over the higher-scoring Mya.
Bob Goen
This television personality is best known as a former host of “Wheel of Fortune” and reporter for “Entertainment Tonight.” So he may already know what it’s like for contestants on competition shows. Several TV personalities have competed for the Mirror Ball Trophy before. Yet only John O’Hurley (season one), Kelly Osborne (season nine), Rob Kardashian (season 13) and Jack Osborne (season 17) managed to make it to the finals. Would Goen like to try his hand at becoming the next to do so?
Brennin Hunt
This country singer-songwriter competed in the first season of “The X Factor” back in 2011. Several country artists before him have appeared on “DWTS.” Yet only former “American Idol” finalist Kellie Pickler (season 16) has ended up taking home the Mirror Ball Trophy. If anyone could be next in line, it should be another reality show alum.
Jaden Smith
The son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has dabbled in acting as well as rap music. He wouldn’t be the first rapper to try his luck on the dance floor. Several have competed for the Mirror Ball, but only Nelly (season 29) managed to make it to the finals. Would Smith be up for the challenge?
BD Wong
He may be best known for his roles on TV shows such as “Law and Order” and “Oz,” but he also has four Broadway credits to his name. Wong won a Tony Award in 1988 for his performance in David Henry Hwang‘s “M. Butterfly” and has appeared in musicals such as “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Pacific Overtures.” Theater vets have a strong track record in the ballroom, including Mirror Ball champions Alfonso Ribeiro (season 19) and Jordan Fisher (season 25).
Tiger Woods
This professional golfer is tied for first in PGA Tour wins, ranks second in men’s major championships, and holds numerous golf records. Athletes have done well in the ballroom before. Yet no professional golfer has ever competed for the Mirror Ball Trophy. If anyone should be the first, it should be one of the greatest of all time.
