Alleged Manhattan arsonist caught after stealing cellphone with tracking app: sources

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A man was arrested in two separate fire attacks in Manhattan subway stations, according to the NYPD.

Nile Taylor, 49, allegedly threw burning liquid at a 23-year-old man on a subway train at the Houston Street station around 3 p.m. on Saturday, police said. The 23-year-old man suffered severe burns after his shirt caught on fire, but he's expected to recover, according to authorities.

Taylor is also accused of hurling a container of burning liquid at people on the southbound No. 1 subway train platform at the West 28th Street station on Feb. 5, police said.

The suspect ran off after Saturday's incident, but was caught after stealing a cellphone with an Apple device tracking app on it, sources told PIX11 News.

Taylor was charged with arson, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
