All three of Columbus’ top prospects had the team’s extra-base hits on Sunday. Jose Tena stayed hot, blasting his seventh home run, a three-run bomb.

Daniel Schneemann added his 10th homer of the year.

George Valera doubled and walked, Jhonkensy Noel singled and walked, and Micah Pries went 2-for-4.

Starting pitcher McCaughan allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings. She walked three and struck out one. Mason Hickman struck out two in a scoreless inning. Tanner Burns closed out the game with 1 23 scoreless innings and a strikeout.

Akron got some excellent starting pitching performances, but was unable to score a single run in either game of a double-header on Sunday.

In game one, Ryan Webb allowed two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and no walks in five innings.

Micael Ramirez went 2-for-3 and Christian Cairo doubled, but that was the extent of the team’s offense.

In game two, Aaron Davenport gave up one run (zero earned) on four strikeouts and three walks with four hits in 4 23 innings. Andrew Walters struck out the only batter he faced.

Cairo went 1-for-1 in a pinch-hit performance. Dayan Frias doubled.

“Rake” County went right back to it on Sunday, making the most of the team’s five hits by hitting a pair of huge home runs and also earning six walks.

The big blow of the game was from Alex Mooney, who blasted a grand slam with his lone hit.

C.J. Kayfus had a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his seventh of the season.

The only other player to reach base safely twice was Jose Devers, who went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Starting pitcher Carter Spivey allowed six runs (three earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks in seven innings.

Zach Jacobs and Magnus Ellerts closed out the victory with a scoreless inning each to earn a hold and a save.

Lynchburg Hillcats 9, Fredericksburg Nationals 4

Lynchburg’s offense bookended this game with four runs in the first and the ninth innings.

Ralphy Velazquez reached base safely three times, going 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.

Angel Genao went 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk. His .932 OPS now leads the Hillcats on a team with several high-caliber players.

Christian Knapczyk went 2-for-5, Lexer Saduy went 2-for-3 with a walk and Esteban Gonzalez went 1-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and three runs scored.

Starting pitcher Yorman Gomez allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits with one walk and strikeout in five innings pitched.

Wardquelin Vasquez added three scoreless innings of long relief with three strikeouts and Abel Brito closed out the victory with a scoreless frame.
