Alasdair Gold reveals what he has heard about Spurs and Hudson-Odoi
Alasdair Gold has revealed that some people internally at Tottenham are playing down suggestions of an impending move for Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer.
Hudson-Odoi has been one of Forest’s best players this season, hitting the ground running at the City Ground after his move from Chelsea last summer.
Various outlets have suggested over the last couple of weeks that Tottenham have been impressed by what they have seen from the 23-year-old and are plotting a move to bring the attacker back to London (Guardian).
It was reported by The Sun a couple of days ago that three Premier League sides are showing interest in the Blues academy graduate but Spurs were at the front of the queue to secure his services.
The publication explained that while Forest do not want to let go of the winger, they might have to sacrifice him, given their current PSR situation.
Spurs sources talk down Hudson-Odoi links
However, Gold has now revealed that his sources at Hotspur Way have tended to talk down the speculation.
When asked about Tottenham’s interest in Hudson-Odoi, the journalist told Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “Interestingly I saw some bits and pieces about Callum Hudson-Odoi out there in recent days. Within Spurs there seems to be a pushback against that, that’s not someone they’re going for, which is quite interesting.
“I could understand it for a couple of reasons, for the homegrown perspective and the fact we know Forest have to sell players, but the current feeling seems to be that’s not somebody they’re going for.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham may have identified Hudson-Odoi as a potential backup option rather than as their first-choice winger target. I would not be surprised if Spurs tested the water with a cheeky offer for the 23-year-old, given Forest’s financial situation.
