For some reason, my skin is the last to know about environmental changes. It isn’t until we’re well into a new season that my skin starts to change and react to the new elements. Now, with the warm weather here, my oily, combination skin is acting up like never before (and consistently producing more redness and breakouts). Of course, I’ve tried multiple spot treatments and pimple patches over the past few weeks, but nothing has worked quite as well, like Tatcha’s Clarifying Clay Mask — which is only 20% off this weekend.

From now until Sunday, June 2, every Tatcha product—including the must-have Clarifying Clay Mask—is 20% off for the J-beauty brand’s Friends & Family Sale. All you have to do is use the code FRIENDS24 at checkout to save on it. Trust me; you’ll want to get it because it’s so worth it.

There’s so much to love about this mask. For starters, it’s already made. Unlike other popular clay masks, where you have to mix powders and liquids for the formula to work, this one is ready to go as soon as you break the seal. For someone in a time crunch, this is a must. And speaking of not having much time, all you need is three to five minutes for the Clarifying Clay Mask to work. So there’s no sitting around waiting for it to harden and work. Instead, Tatcha recommends massaging the mask onto your skin until it turns from sage green to a soft pinkish-red, leaving it on for no longer than five minutes so it doesn’t harden. I’ve found that with other clay masks, waiting until it’s hard as clay makes my skin feel drier than before. With this clarifying mask, I felt like my skin was surprisingly moisturized.

The clarifying mask is made with kucha clay from the Okinawa region of Japan. The clay is rich in minerals and “absorbs excess oil, sebum, and dirt from the pores,” per the brand. It also has Japanese volcanic ash, which offers a warming sensation to loosen up your pores, and Japanese konjac, a root vegetable that helps gently exfoliate your skin. Together, they offer a beautiful texture that feels easy on my congested skin.

The Clarifying Clay Mask is intended for someone with oily or combo-to-oily skin. It’s also suitable for someone experiencing uneven texture and heavily clogged pores — which right now, is me! I have some sensitive parts of my skin, too. So, if you’re like me and have experienced that, I’d recommend usinf this mask only once a week to start. Tatcha does say you can use it two to three times a week; however, if the idea of over-exfoliating scares you like it scares me, I think once a week is just fine. I’ve noticed my skin feels oh-so-smooth after the first use and looks even better the next day.

You can buy the Clarifying Clay Mask for 20% off this weekend at Tatcha.com — remember to use code FRIEND24 at checkout. Trust me, your pores will thank you later for it.
