Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid Unhappy With Training Facilities, Food In New York Ahead Of T20 World Cup 2024: Report

New York: Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid were reportedly unhappy with the Cantiague Park practice facilities ahead of their T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up game against Bangladesh. In a gear-up to the event, the Men in Blue have been training in the makeshift venue, which is believed to be their practice facility for most of the league stage.

The Indian team will play three league matches in New York – against Ireland, Pakistan and co-hosts USA at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium – before flying to Florida to play their final league tie against Canada. Rohit and Rahul had an issue with the food arrangements, not just the training facilities.

“Everything is makeshift – from pitches to other facilities. Safe to say everything is very average in nature. The team has raised their concerns,” a source close to the developments was quoted as saying to News18. However, BCCI raised it to the International Cricket Council as well.

When asked regarding the game, the ICC reverted back and said, “There has been no complaint or concern expressed regarding the practice facilities at Cantiague Park by any team.” With Nassau County International Cricket Stadium having no training facility of their own, the ICC has to provide Cantiague Park as one of the practice venues for the teams.

While all the players have already been training in New York for the past couple of days, Virat Kohli is yet to join the team as he landed in the US on Friday. Following the warm-up tie, India will open their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on June 5 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Notably, India only played three T20Is this year against Afghanistan at home.
