Sooners Shut Out ORU in Regional Opener

Oklahoma pitchers held Oral Roberts to just three hits and struck out 11 Golden Eagles, and the Sooner offense pounded out 17 hits on their way to a 14-0 win in their opening game of the NCAA regional at Mitchell Park in Norman on Friday night.

OU starting pitcher Kyson Witherspoon went six innings, striking out nine and giving up just one hit.

Carter Campbell pitched the final three innings, giving up two hits and striking out two.

Offensively, all but one OU starter got a hit, with the top three batters in the order all collecting three hits.

John Spikerman was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs batted in.

Bryce Madron was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, and three RBI's.

Easton Carmichael was 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in the fifth inning to put the Sooners up 6-0.

Madron got OU started with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, then hit a two-run home run in the third inning.

Scott Mudler hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and added a two-run single in the 8th.

The Sooners will play Connecticut in the winners' bracket Saturday at 8:00 pm.
