The UN Secretary-General welcomed the U.S. President’s proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Hamas issued a statement indicating that it views the proposal positively, provided Israel commits to it.

António Guterres stated that Joe Biden’s initiative ensures a Gaza ceasefire, the release of all hostages, humanitarian access in Gaza, and lasting peace in the Middle East.

Guterres wrote on his X account on Friday, “We have witnessed excessive suffering and destruction in Gaza.”

In response to Biden’s ceasefire proposal, Hamas stated it would view any permanent ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, Gaza reconstruction, and hostage exchange positively, provided Israel clearly commits to such a deal.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized in a social media post that the ceasefire agreement offers an opportunity to end the war in Gaza, return hostages home, and alleviate Palestinian suffering, urging Hamas to accept the agreement.
