India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Randhir Jaiswal affirmed that New Delhi is committed to supporting Afghans, describing this as the country’s “stable” policy towards Afghanistan’s people.

Jaiswal mentioned that India utilizes Chabahar port to deliver humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and other landlocked Central Asian countries.

“It is our stable policy to support the people of Afghanistan, particularly through humanitarian aid, food, and medicine. We use Chabahar for this specific purpose,” he elaborated.

The official emphasized that Chabahar port is crucial for establishing regional connectivity and providing humanitarian assistance.

Other Indian officials previously highlighted that New Delhi aims to connect Afghanistan and Central Asia via the Chabahar port, enhancing trade exchanges.

Mirwais Hajizadeh, deputy of the Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock, noted that Chabahar serves as an economic and commercial corridor, allowing India access to Central Asia and boosting trade from Afghanistan to the region.

India and Iran recently signed a ten-year agreement to develop Chabahar port, which will facilitate India’s export of commercial goods to Afghanistan and Central Asian countries.

The development of Chabahar port is a tripartite project involving Iran, India, and Afghanistan, formalized in the 1395 solar year by agreements between Kabul, New Delhi, and Tehran.

Chabahar port offers an alternative for Afghanistan and India to bypass Pakistan, addressing the instability in their trade and transit relations in recent years.
