Report: Spurs are eyeing £85m-rated star as their heir to Harry Kane
According to the print edition of Correio da Manha (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have identified Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as the man to fill Harry Kane’s shoes.
Gyokeres initially made a name for himself with his goalscoring exploits for Coventry City in the Championship and the centre-forward has dominated the Portuguese top-flight since his switch to Sporting last summer.
The 25-year-old has found the back of the net a whopping 43 times across all competitions while also registering 15 assists, propelling Ruben Amorim’s side to the league title (Transfermarkt).
Correio de Manha report that Tottenham are now plotting to offer the Sweden international a route back to England as the North London club look to sign a top-class number nine who can fill the void left by Kane’s departure.

The report reveals that Gyokeres has now had surgery on his knee after feeling some ‘discomfort’ and is now expected to be sidelined for the next six weeks before returning to action ahead of the 2024-25 season.
The publication adds that even though Sporting paid just €20m (£17m) to sign the striker from Coventry last summer, the Lions are expected to demand a whopping €100m (£85m) for the player.
Spurs Web Opinion
Sporting are a notoriously difficult side to negotiate with as Spurs have found out over recent years on a few occasions, most recently during the negotiations over Pedro Porro. I do not think Levy would be too keen to enter into talks with the Portuguese side over a deal for Gyokeres.
