There is a lot of excitement around Moore at Hotspur Way, with the 16-year-old being the standout performer in the Under-18 Premier League last season, with a whopping 14 goals and eight assists in just 12 matches (Transfermarkt).

In fact, the winger has already been handed his senior debut by Ange Postecoglou, featuring a couple of times for the first-team at the end of the campaign and in the process, becoming the youngest-ever player to represent Spurs in the Premier League.

Tottenham’s academy director Simon Davies said earlier this week that while Moore has shown a lot of promise, he called for ‘calm’ over the teenager, insisting that he has to get his head down and work hard to reach the heights that he is capable of (The Standard).

Tottenham’s Mikey Moore is a highly-rated talent

Hughes believes that there is not a single club in world football that would not take the Spurs youngster.

The journalist told The Spurs Chat Podcast: “Mikey Moore has bypassed the U21s and has come straight into the first team. The talent is so crazy and off the charts for him. There’s not a single club in the world who wouldn’t take a Mikey Moore. The likes of Barca, Real Madrid, City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, they’d all take him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If you go through the biggest wonderkids at 16 and 17 over the last couple of decades, you will find that hardly any of them went on to have the sort of careers that they were expected to.

Just because a player is considerably better than his peers at 16, does not mean that the same development trajectory will continue over the next five years. Spurs fans should not get carried away about Moore’s potential just yet.
