Report: How much Torino will charge for Spurs-linked Buongiorno this summer

Area Napoli have revealed that Napoli might struggle to meet Torino’s asking price for rumoured Tottenham target Alessandro Buongiorno.

A few days ago, it was reported by CalcioMercato (via InsideFutbol), that Antonio Conte has told the Napoli hierarchy that he wants Buongiorno to be his first signing.

It was claimed that the Italian, who is expected to take charge at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium shortly, has urged the club to beat the likes of Spurs and AC Milan to the Torino star’s signature.

This information has now been backed up by Area Napoli, who say that Conte wants to prioritise strengthening at the back and sees Buongiorno as someone who can be a ‘future point of reference’ for Napoli.

Torino want £34m for Alessandro Buongiorno this summer

However, it is revealed that the ‘biggest obstacle’ for the 2022-23 Scudetto winners is Torino’s asking price, which stands at around €40m (£34m).

The publication adds that Napoli are expected to hold a meeting with the Turin club over the next few days in the hope of striking a deal for the centre-back.

They are said to be keen to have an agreement in place before the start of the Euros as they fear that Buongiorno’s asking price could increase further if he impresses in Germany this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Buongiorno ticks a few boxes for Ange Postecoglou’s men, I suspect Tottenham might be prioritising a deal for Trevoh Chalobah, who is homegrown and expected to be cheaper than the Italy international.
